On the road to recognition - Executary News

a nationally recognised PA qualification- a good idea?

the latest issue of Executary News magazine carries a very interesting feature about the results of some research that was carried out recently amongst PAs, EAs and executive secretaries. It was initiated by Rosemary Parr at the Global PA Network and done in conjunction with Kingston University Business School under the guidance of Professor Katie Truss. The key conclusion that is unsurprisingly attracting the most attention is the apparent demand for a nationally recognised PA qualification. Naturally this is a big subject of great interest to Executary News readers, so we will be closely following the story as it progresses. In the meantine please let us know what you think

  • I studied for the London Chamber of Commerce "Private Secretary's Certificate" which encompassed business studies, deportment, finance, and other secretarial duties. I think a more»nationally recognised PA qualification is most beneficial.«less

  • A perfect step towards a CIPD qualification. Even better if CIPD certified it. There are just so many PA's about who don't know what is available out there, what their peers are doing or nmore»ot doing and what kind of pay one can expect from this.«less

  • I think this is a great idea and not before time. The varied demands of the job mean require an understanding of skills from marketing to project management. The take up would be very high and should more»be something PAs could get support from their employers.«less

  • a sample reader comment " I think that the role and reponsibilities of a PA vary from company to company. Some companies expect more and some less, so I think that a course that recognises whamore»t a PA can do would benefit me both in my current role and in the future"«less
