The latest recession has seen millions falling into debt. Now, two enterprising women have set up an advice service specifically for women who’ve lost control of their finances. Called Women in Debt (www.womenindebt.co.uk; 08448 222 622), it’s run by two female directors who were previously employed by a leading debt advice and debt solutions company. They became rather disillusioned about the way debt advice was being given to women in the industry.
The pair noticed that as much as practical advice, women who had fallen into debt wanted a friendly, non-judgmental listening ear. Their service offers exactly that via a telephone helpline and a bright, cheerful, user-friendly website.
As well as sympathetic attention, Women in Debt provides pragmatic support. It will help you set up a debt management plan, give advice on mortgages and loans and, if necessary, hold your hand through bankruptcy.
