The publicity blurb for this tome begins: ‘Wouldn’t it be great if you loved every minute of your working day? If you got up every morning ready for anything, knowing every day was going your way?’ Mmm, short of getting a job as George Clooney’s PA, we don’t really see that happening… However, then the PR machine calms down and explains that Chris Baréz-Brown, the author of Shine: How to Survive and Thrive at Work (£9.99, Penguin), ‘thinks we could all do with a few more good days’.
Apparently, he’s already worked his magic on brands such as Coca-Cola, HSBC and Nike. His aim is to help you give yourself permission ‘to be creative, innovate, be yourself and enjoy yourself’. We’re sure Nike took note of that advice when they improved conditions, as they assure us they have, in their developing-world factories.
