Royal Mail and BT are among the companies who’ve agreed to back a campaign to tackle the problems arthritis causes for employees.

The campaign is the brainchild of charity Arthritis Care which is urging companies to sign its Employer’s Pledge to raise awareness of the condition in offices, take measures to prevent it and help sufferers.

According to Arthritis Care, the rheumatic disease affects one in six workers. It costs the UK more than £7 billion in lost labour and is the country’s biggest cause of physical disability. So far, nearly 200,000 employees have signed up to the Employer’s Pledge.

Helen Chipchase, BT’s disability and employment expert, says: ‘This year alone, we’ve made reasonable adjustments for over 600 staff through our Enable scheme – which means that we get to retain their skills, abilities and relationships with our customers, so everybody wins.’

Why not talk to your company about it today?
